My fellow retards,
Phon/ongod has met many, many people in this world. This pheverdream focuses solely on those who aspire to greatness. Farmers and other simple-life-liver’s who pursue stability and happiness will have to wait for a different pheverdream. For what it’s worth, there is beauty in simplicity—but that’s not really a fact to convince someone of…
This is for those who drive:
There are two types of drivers.
There are those who love to win.
There are those who hate to lose.
Both types can be wildly successful, though their internal motivation appears to be incredibly different. This often plays out in sports. Relentless pursuit of victory will drive someone to want ball in their hands for the last shot, want the pressure, want the glory of victory. They chase the rush, the emotional surge as endorphins ejaculate through their body’s receptors when that winning shot hits. They are fine with losing, so long as they went for the gold.
The other type of driver is one who hates to lose. They instead are driven by the avoidance of that horrible feeling of defeat. A great example would be Fabiano Caruana.
He’s the highest rated US chess player in the world. In his world championship bout against Magnus a few years back he did not lose one game to Magnus in the classical format. Every single game was a draw. He plays to avoid defeat. He does not lunge forward with wild attacks—sacrificing pieces and pressing advantages. He does not compromise on structural security, and he is okay with missing out on glory if he can avoid the pitfalls of defeat. Fabi never lets himself gets overexposed.
This deacon is not sure which driver is more powerful; thirst for the win, or hatred of loss. In either case, it’s likely important to recognize which bucket you fall into so that you can make appropriate decisions that align with your emotional state and personal tendencies.
Would you rather always play your best game, or have your opponent always play their worst?
Whichever way you play, Phonon DAO is winning this race.
