A reading from the book of rooster:
So many great ideas are being passed around these chats. I think it’s important to make note of and spread the memes that make our little subculture great.
Mickey gets the credit for floating this one;
Instead of paying out in stablecoin or PHONON from the treasury, a working group might requisition discounted call options on some number of vested tokens, and then use those options as compensation to attract people who are in to the project, not just the profits.
As soon as we announced "gibs”, we got swarmed by takers. The first wave was unsophisticated and handily thwarted by the mod team. Glad to be rid of those bots and “gm”-rifters—they offer nothing to the project. What will come next is another story.
The truth is that there is far more work to be done here than can be handled exclusively by true believers. My long term goal is to make everyone a believer, but I accept that process as arduous and not strictly necessary for the success of the project. That said, I argue that all working groups should bias toward true-believers—people who are invested in the project with their attention as well as their money/labor.
All else being equal, I would always support the hire of someone who would accept payout in the form of a hefty discount on vested tokens over someone looking for a quick rip and run. Flexibility is still paramount, so obviously use all the available options to hire the most valuable people we can get, but remember that the real value is the friends we make along the way.
Thank you for your attentions, they are the most valuable thing you possess.
