My fellow retards,
The United States gave the world a blueprint for democracy. It got many things wrong, but it remains an incredible experiment in putting more power into the hands of the people. It was founded on principles that the rest of the world seems to admire and even emulate, with countries throughout at least attempting democracy.
Elves sometimes wonder, though; “is it small-d democratic structures that yield the best policies”. The Phonon DAO is going through an experiment now to determine the best way to coordinate individuals across borders and ideologies, in order to structure a system that works. As of now, similar to essentially all other DAOs; tokens equal votes. This means that those who have the deepest pockets monopolize the decision-making. That seems like a crazy system if it were to govern an entire nation. Imagine if the world’s elites could sway the direction of every vote they wanted in an explicit manner, without having to buy the Washington Post first to have a mouthpiece for their propaganda?
Money buying votes isn’t great. Many will jump to the idea that all people should have a voice in this project, but is that what you really want? What about those who don’t know crypto? What about those who have no idea how Phonon works? Okay, so now you’re moving towards a system where those educated on Phonon, and members of the Discord have the ability to vote. That sounds an awful lot like intelligence requirements / testing in order to vote in a democracy. It’s a slippery slope to bring up these topics. You’ll often be called a bigot for even suggesting that the best course of action might be non-egalitarian.
What would phon/ongod want? Well, it doesn’t really matter. What matters is how to make the most of what exists. What is most desirable is whatever system is most effective for moving phonon into the best place possible. That likely means those who are most educated and most bought into the system should have the biggest voice.
Elves stand for independent thinkers. Anyone who can easily be swayed or who votes with one side as a virtue signal wouldn’t vote in phon/ongod’s world. Such a system would optimize for the politicians who can sway the most simple minded, rather than those who are focused on building the best systems and implementing the best policies.
Anne Perkins is a great example. Her personality is nothing more than an extension of whoever she dates. Should she get a vote in any system? That vote will likely be an extension of the individual she is currently seeing. By giving Anne a vote we are giving two votes to her partner instead. This seems … not ideal. Should only those willing to think for themselves be given the right to participate in governance? How does even one determine this?
Governance is a challenge. The Phonon DAO will make mistakes. It has been very careful thus far to think about various ways capture can take place, but by doing so has been slow to implement anything. What is needed is not a system that solves the whole world’s governance problems, simply something to create a platform where the DAO can have open communication about radical ideas that may move this system forward.
Open dialogue will win if that is what the Phonon DAO chooses to optimize for.
Tips to phonongod.eth will be invested in bounties that advance the Phonon project.
Hatemail to phonongod@protonmail.com will be scathingly considered.
Targets for the marketcap of PHONON DAO remain:
$1b by Q2 2022, $12b by EOY.
On the high end, $300b marketcap in 3 years.
Quick example of a democratic regime that ironically dictates by aw that every citizen must vote(those who don't are in violation of the law and have their all their assets[tied to their social security #] froze -> The United States of Brazil.)
Within the past 30 years, Brazil has had 3 presidents impeached, 3 different currencies, reported average inflation around 13%; - ranked 6th right, beside Syria as a: 'quasi-failed state in 2017'. All the while the country is self-sufficient in natural resources, huge oil reserves, food, water, territory...
Voting might just be a flawed concept instilled upon our minds - put there in order to portay an illusion where everybody has a voice.
"What do you mean I "don't believe in God?"
I talk to him every day
What do you mean I "don't support your system?"
I go to court when I have to
What do you mean I "can't get to work on time?"
Got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean I "don't pay my bills?"
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?"
If there's a new way, I'll be the first in line
But it better work this time" (Peace Sells - Megadeth)
